Rachael Smith

CFS Welcomes New Director!
My name is Rachael Smith, and I am thrilled to be the incoming Director of Children’s First School for the 2018-2019 school year!  I want to take a moment to introduce myself to all of you, especially those whom I do not know.  My educational background is in Psychology and English with post baccalaureate studies in education.  I taught public school and counseled students for many years before taking a break to stay home and rear my two boys.  While staying home, my husband and I decided to send our children to CFS for their MDO and preschool years, and they thrived both academically and socially.  They loved the preschool so much that our family decided to attend church here as well.  We formally joined the church after 6 months of visiting; and while actively taking part in our church life, we have all grown in our relationships with Christ.  Since my youngest son was enrolled in the fabulous Kindergarten program at CFS this year, I decided it was time to go back to teaching.  I taught one of the three-year-old classes this school year, and that has reawakened my love of teaching and working with little ones.  These formative years are precious, so I love watching my students light up when they learn something new.  Their innocent, uninhibited world view makes each day new and exciting.  The combination of being an active church member, teacher, and parent of a current CFS student makes the position of Director a perfect fit.
